The Black Barn is situated at the top of a no-through lane which leads to the two farms at the bottom, accessed via an electric gate. The lane itself is also a public footpath.

Some of the reasons to make The Black Barn your next holiday destination:

Stunning country walks through ancient woodland and gently undulating farmland via a network of well-signed and maintained footpaths

Conveniently located within a short stroll of the village centre where you will find:

  • a pub
  • a coffee shop
  • a bakers
  • a post office and convenience store
  • a French restaurant
  • an Indian restaurant and takeaway
  • a fish and chip shop
  • an arts and crafts shop
  • 2 hairdressers
  • a barbers
  • a beauty salon
  • an antiques and interiors shop
  • a pet shop

A perfect base to explore all that this part of the world has to offer:

Seaside towns:

HASTINGS – with its rich maritime history, the old town area of George Street in particular which is lined with old buildings housing antique shops, curios, cafes and and old smugglers haunts.

RYE – Brimming with history, Rye is famous for its cobbled streets such as Mermaid Street, one of the most photographed streets in Britain which houses the reputedly haunted Mermaid Inn dating back 600 years. There are cosy pubs, restaurants, arts and curiosities as well as museums and the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.

EASTBOURNE – with its spectacularly colourful flower-filled seafront and grand Victorian buildings, 19th century pier and of course the famous cliffs of the South Downs – The Seven Sisters.

BRIGHTON & HOVE – a city full of culture and history, probably best described by VisitBrighton.com as “vibrant, colourful and creative”. A visit to The Lanes is a must – a maze of narrow streets with bespoke jewellers, art galleries and boutiques.

Castles, National Trust Properties, Gardens such as:

  • Herstmonceux Castle Grounds & Gardens
  • Pevensey Castle
  • Bodiam Castle
  • Battle Abbey
  • Bateman’s – former home of Rudyard Kipling
  • Alfriston Clergy House – the first built property to be acquired by the National Trust
  • Sheffield Park & Gardens
  • Michelham Priory
  • Glyndebourne Opera House

and many more
